A 10-year-old boy in Greenfield, Indiana has died by suicide after suffering horrific bullying at school, according to his grieving family. Sammy Teusch, a fourth-grader at Greenfield Intermediate School, took his own life on May 5 after enduring persistent abuse from his classmates.

Sammy’s parents, Sam and Nichole Teusch, say they complained to the school roughly 20 times about the bullying their son was facing, but claim no meaningful action was taken to address the problem.

The bullying allegedly started when Sammy was in elementary school, with classmates mocking him for his glasses and teeth before the abuse escalated to physical attacks on the school bus.

“He was beat up on the school bus, and the kids broke his glasses and everything,” Sammy’s father, Sam, told local news station WTHR. “I called the school, and I’m like, ‘What are you doing about this? It keeps getting worse, and worse, and worse.’ â€

However, the school district’s superintendent, Dr. Harold Olin, denies that any bullying reports were ever submitted by the Teusch family. Olin acknowledged that the school’s administration had regular conversations with the parents, but claimed confidentiality rules prevented him from providing further details.

Sammy’s grandmother, Cynthia Teusch, expressed outrage at the school district’s response, accusing them of failing to fulfill their responsibility to protect students from bullying. “People trust their kids to the school, but now that trust is breaking down,” she said.

Tragically, the constant bullying ultimately became too much for young Sammy to bear. His mother, Nichole, believes her son took his own life because he was too afraid to go to school, especially after a specific incident in a bathroom the week before his death.

The heartbreaking loss of this 10-year-old boy has devastated his family and reignited calls for schools to take a stronger stance against bullying. Sammy’s parents hope that by sharing their story, they can prevent other families from experiencing a similarly unimaginable tragedy.
