In a remarkable story of survival, four kids from Colombia’s Indigenous community were found alive and healthy after spending 14 days in the wild following a plane crash that killed three adults.
The kids, aged between an infant and 13 years old, managed to escape the Cessna 206 aircraft that crashed in a remote area of Caqueta province on May 1st.
They then walked through the dense jungle in search of help, surviving on fruits and building shelters along the way. A massive search operation involving the Colombian military, firefighters, and civil aviation personnel finally located the young survivors.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro tweeted that the rescue was “a joy for the country” and thanked the “arduous searching by our military” that made it possible.
The investigation is ongoing into how the four kids, including an 11-month-old baby, endured the harsh conditions and lack of food and water for two weeks after crashing in the hostile jungle.
Discarded fruits and makeshift shelters showed how the kids used their ingenuity to survive until rescuers could find them.
While the fate of the adults on board the flight remains tragic, this amazing story of survival against all odds serves as an inspiration.
The courage and resourcefulness shown by these young kids in the face of adversity demonstrates the power of the human spirit.
Through a combination of strength, creativity and perhaps a bit of luck, these four kids were able to overcome a situation that would overwhelm most adults, highlighting the incredible resilience of the young mind.
