A Jack­sonville man is behind bars for ter­ror­iz­ing two Black women with a shot­gun fueled by racial hatred.

Fred­er­ick Pier­alli­ni, 27, plead­ed guilty to fed­er­al hate crimes and received a 5‑year sentence. 

Jus­tice Served: Hate Has No Place in Jack­sonville

The crimes took place at every­day loca­tions: a con­ve­nience store and out­side an apartment. 

The cashier, a Black woman, was repeat­ed­ly called racial slurs after a pay­ment issue.

Pier­alli­ni fired a shot­gun while the woman was on the phone with police! 

Should men­tal health issues excuse hate crimes?

Pros­e­cu­tors argued the crimes deserved a harsh­er sen­tence due to the fear instilled.
