Tragic Wrong-Way Crash Claims 9‑Year-Old’s Life

A heart­break­ing inci­dent unfold­ed on Long Island ear­ly Thurs­day morn­ing as a moth­er trag­i­cal­ly lost her 9‑year-old son in a hor­rif­ic wrong-way crash. The acci­dent left sev­er­al oth­ers injured and has sent shock­waves through the community.

The crash occurred around 2:15 a.m. on the South­ern State Park­way near Exit 42 in Islip. A 32-year-old woman from Cen­ter­port, whose iden­ti­ty has not been released, was dri­ving a 2022 Mit­subishi SUV in the wrong direc­tion. Despite attempts by law enforce­ment to stop her, she con­tin­ued dri­ving, ulti­mate­ly lead­ing to the dev­as­tat­ing collision.
