A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Long Island early Thursday morning as a mother tragically lost her 9‑year-old son in a horrific wrong-way crash. The accident left several others injured and has sent shockwaves through the community.

The crash occurred around 2:15 a.m. on the Southern State Parkway near Exit 42 in Islip. A 32-year-old woman from Centerport, whose identity has not been released, was driving a 2022 Mitsubishi SUV in the wrong direction. Despite attempts by law enforcement to stop her, she continued driving, ultimately leading to the devastating collision.
Fatal Consequences
The impact of the crash was severe, resulting in extensive damage to all vehicles involved. The force of the collision was so great that the engine of the wrong-way vehicle was ejected into nearby woods.
