A terrifying encounter in Bihar, India, saw 35-year-old Santosh Lohar awaken to a snake bite.

Acting on a village belief that biting a snake back neutralizes venom, Lohar grabbed the reptile and bit it twice, killing it.

Though risky, his swift response may have saved him until reaching a hospital for antivenom treatment.

Bihar suffers a high number of snakebite deaths annually due to its diverse snake population, including the “Big Four” — highly venomous species like the Indian Cobra.

Their venom can be fatal if left untreated. While Lohar’s method isn’t scientifically valid, his quick thinking proved crucial in a remote location.
