In a bizarre twist of fate, the emergency slide that detached from a Delta Air Lines Boeing 767–300 during a flight from JFK Airport on Friday has been found washed up at the Rockaway Beach home of a lawyer whose firm is currently suing Boeing over safety concerns.
The emergency slide, which reportedly separated from the aircraft minutes after takeoff, was discovered on a jetty near Beach 131st Street on Sunday.
Delta has since confirmed the recovery of the slide and is working with authorities to investigate the incident.
While the incident did not result in any injuries, it has reignited concerns about the safety of Boeing aircraft, with the lawyer in question representing clients in ongoing litigation against the aerospace giant.
The peculiar circumstances of the slide’s recovery have added another layer of intrigue to an already unusual story.
