The unwavering spirit of 29-year-old Lisa Fitzgerald from New Jersey is capturing hearts after a horrific train accident. On a rainy May evening, while waiting at the Morristown station, Lisa came into contact with a train pulling into the platform, resulting in the amputation of her leg.

Despite the excruciating injury, Lisa displayed remarkable strength by pulling herself onto the platform, even as some bystanders passed by without assisting. Her determination to survive is further evident in her composure and humor while waiting for help.

“She crawled herself over
She was like, ‘I was just so scared that my hair was going to get caught up in there and that they were going to suck [me back in],’ so she waited for the train to stop,” recounted Lisa’s stepmother, Stacie Weil-Fitzgerald.

The timely arrival of Morristown police officers ensured proper medical attention, potentially saving Lisa’s life. Even during this critical time, Lisa’s positive spirit shone through with jokes and a clear message: “Please get me to the hospital. I’m not going to die this way.”

While the accident resulted in the loss of her leg, Lisa’s resilience continues to inspire. Her family has organized a celebratory “glamputation” birthday party, showcasing their unwavering support. A GoFundMe campaign set up by her sister has garnered over $77,000 to aid Lisa’s recovery and future medical needs.

“She has not stopped smiling,” Stacie expressed, highlighting Lisa’s unwavering optimism. Dubbed the “Miracle of Morristown,” Lisa’s story exemplifies the power of human will and the ability to overcome immense adversity.
