North Las Vegas Shooting: 5 Dead, Teen Critical After Rampage

A gun­man’s ram­page through two North Las Vegas apart­ment com­plex­es on Mon­day night left five peo­ple dead and a 13-year-old girl crit­i­cal­ly injured.

The first inci­dent occurred short­ly after 10 pm at one apart­ment, where offi­cers dis­cov­ered two deceased women, one in her 40s and anoth­er in her 50s. A crit­i­cal­ly wound­ed teenage girl was also found and trans­port­ed to the hospital.

At a near­by apart­ment com­plex, author­i­ties dis­cov­ered three more vic­tims — two women and one man, all in their 20s — who had been fatal­ly shot.

Police iden­ti­fied the sus­pect as 57-year-old Erick Adams and launched a man­hunt. After locat­ing him armed with a gun the fol­low­ing morn­ing, Adams fled on foot and died by sui­cide dur­ing police apprehension.

The motive behind the shoot­ings remains under inves­ti­ga­tion. This trag­ic event has deeply impact­ed the North Las Vegas com­mu­ni­ty, renew­ing calls for solu­tions to address gun vio­lence in the Unit­ed States.
