Pastor Arrested for Hidden Camera in Church Bathroom
A pasÂtor at 2|42 ComÂmuÂniÂty Church in Brighton, MichiÂgan has been arrestÂed after allegedÂly admitÂting to placÂing a camÂera in a uniÂsex bathÂroom on the church campus.
Camera Discovered by Church Staff
AccordÂing to an email shared with the church comÂmuÂniÂty, a staff memÂber at the church disÂcovÂered the camÂera on Friday.
The email statÂed that Will JohnÂson, the churchâs worÂship pasÂtor direcÂtor, âconÂfessed that he placed it thereâ and was promptÂly fired.
Church Cooperating with Investigation
The church leadÂerÂship immeÂdiÂateÂly notiÂfied the LivÂingston CounÂty SherÂifÂfâs Office, who arrestÂed JohnÂson on SatÂurÂday night.
The church has statÂed that they are fulÂly coopÂerÂatÂing with the ongoÂing invesÂtiÂgaÂtion and are âshocked and deeply sadÂdened by this situation.â
Church Searching Facilities and Hiring Third-Party
As of SatÂurÂday, the sherÂifÂfâs office did not have any indiÂcaÂtion of othÂer camÂeras placed on the church campus.
HowÂevÂer, the church leadÂerÂship said they are âthorÂoughÂly searchÂing all of our facilÂiÂtiesâ and will âengage the serÂvices of a third-parÂty proÂfesÂsionÂal out of an abunÂdance of caution.â
Charges and Court Proceedings
JohnÂson was arraigned on SunÂday in LivÂingston CounÂty DisÂtrict Court and faces three felony charges, includÂing surÂveilling an unclothed perÂson, using a comÂputÂer to comÂmit a crime, and tamÂperÂing with evidence.
His bond was set at $250,000, and his preÂlimÂiÂnary examÂiÂnaÂtion is schedÂuled for OctoÂber 1.
