A pastor at 2|42 Community Church in Brighton, Michigan has been arrested after allegedly admitting to placing a camera in a unisex bathroom on the church campus.

Camera Discovered by Church Staff

According to an email shared with the church community, a staff member at the church discovered the camera on Friday.

The email stated that Will Johnson, the church’s worship pastor director, “confessed that he placed it there” and was promptly fired.

Church Cooperating with Investigation

The church leadership immediately notified the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, who arrested Johnson on Saturday night.

The church has stated that they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation and are “shocked and deeply saddened by this situation.”

As of Saturday, the sheriff’s office did not have any indication of other cameras placed on the church campus.

However, the church leadership said they are “thoroughly searching all of our facilities” and will “engage the services of a third-party professional out of an abundance of caution.”

Charges and Court Proceedings

Johnson was arraigned on Sunday in Livingston County District Court and faces three felony charges, including surveilling an unclothed person, using a computer to commit a crime, and tampering with evidence.

His bond was set at $250,000, and his preliminary examination is scheduled for October 1.
