Philip Chism, aged 25, who was previously convicted for the rape and murder of Massachusetts high school teacher Colleen Ritzer in 2013, has pleaded guilty to additional charges involving a brutal assault on a Department of Youth Services (DYS) worker.

Chism was just 14 years old when he committed the horrific acts against his algebra teacher at Danvers High School, leading to a 40-year prison sentence in 2016.

Now, Chism faces further legal consequences after admitting to attacking a female clinician at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Dorchester on June 2, 2014, when he was 15.

Prosecutors described how Chism followed the victim into a bathroom area, where he choked, beat, and attacked her with a sharpened pencil, resulting in serious injuries. Chism responded with “That is correct, your honor” when asked by the judge if he was admitting to the facts presented in court.

While the victim was not present during the hearing, she referred to Chism as a “monster” in an impact statement read by the prosecutor on her behalf.

Colleen Ritzer, known for her passion for teaching and love of life, has been honored through the establishment of the Colleen Ritzer Memorial Fund, which provides grants and scholarships to future educators.
