Accord­ing to the report, a friend of Prince William believes Prince Har­ry should use his upcom­ing trip to Colom­bia to apol­o­gize for his past cocaine use. 

The friend argued that Har­ry’s “trip to Colom­bia should include an admis­sion that the coun­try has been destroyed by nar­co-ter­ror­ists ser­vic­ing wealthy drug users in the west, and he should stand up and apol­o­gize for his own par­tic­i­pa­tion in that dis­gust­ing trade.”

Harry’s Past Drug Use Controversy

In his 2023 mem­oir “Spare,” Har­ry revealed that he had tried cocaine when he was 17 years old “to feel dif­fer­ent.” Dur­ing an inter­view, he also said he relied on alco­hol and drugs, includ­ing cocaine, to cope with the trag­ic death of his moth­er, Princess Diana.

Har­ry’s past drug use has caused major con­tro­ver­sy, with reports that he may face pos­si­ble depor­ta­tion from the Unit­ed States if it’s dis­cov­ered he did not dis­close his his­to­ry on immi­gra­tion doc­u­ments. The Her­itage Foun­da­tion, a con­ser­v­a­tive think tank, has sued the Depart­ment of Home­land Secu­ri­ty for Har­ry’s doc­u­ments, cit­ing pub­lic interest.

Upcoming Colombia Trip and Criticism

Prince Har­ry and his wife Meghan Markle are set to vis­it Colom­bia lat­er this month, with the trip timed to coin­cide with the first World Min­is­te­r­i­al Con­fer­ence on the Elim­i­na­tion of Vio­lence Against Children.

How­ev­er, William’s friend crit­i­cized the focus on online trolling, argu­ing that “online trolling is the biggest risk to chil­dren being exploit­ed, enslaved and mur­dered by drugs gangs.”

The friend’s call for Har­ry to apol­o­gize dur­ing the Colom­bia trip reflects the ongo­ing scruti­ny and con­tro­ver­sy sur­round­ing the prince’s past drug use and its poten­tial impact on his pub­lic image and work.
