Rex Heuermann, Suspected Gilgo Beach Killer, Faces New Murder Charge

Long Island author­i­ties have indict­ed Rex Heuer­mann, the prime sus­pect in the Gilgo Beach mur­ders, on an addi­tion­al mur­der charge. The 60-year-old is expect­ed to be arraigned this week in River­head, New York.

Details on the spe­cif­ic new charge haven’t been released, but News­day reports it relates to anoth­er victim.

This comes after a recent search of Heuer­man­n’s home, the sec­ond since his 2023 arrest for the mur­ders of the “Gilgo Four” — Amber Lynn Costel­lo, Melis­sa Barthele­my, Nicole Brainard-Smith, and Megan Waterman.

Despite evi­dence, the loca­tion of the killings remains a mys­tery. Heuer­mann is detained at River­head Cor­rec­tion­al Facil­i­ty. These devel­op­ments sug­gest a wider inves­ti­ga­tion into Heuer­man­n’s poten­tial involve­ment in more murders.
