Innovative Body Tape Designs Debut at NYFW

New York Fash­ion Week is in full swing, and the event has already seen some dar­ing and uncon­ven­tion­al run­way looks. 

Mod­els have been strut­ting down the cat­walk clad in noth­ing but strate­gi­cal­ly placed black body tape, cour­tesy of design­er Drakhan Black­hart, who has dubbed him­self the “world’s only body tape expert.”

The Black Tape Project Showcases Minimalist Creations

The spot­light was on The Black Tape Project, pow­ered by House of Par­adise pro­duc­er Mossab Alsaray, dur­ing the Sat­ur­day show. 

Black­hart, a Cuban Amer­i­can raised in Mia­mi, applied the tape direct­ly on the mod­els’ bod­ies, cre­at­ing reveal­ing yet inno­v­a­tive ensem­bles that focused sole­ly on the tape’s place­ment and design.

Diverse Tape Placements and Embellishments

The design­er exper­i­ment­ed with var­i­ous tape place­ments, some­times using straight lines and oth­er times opt­ing for curved shapes and angled pieces. 

He also added dynam­ic ele­ments to the looks, such as embell­ish­ing the tape with sil­ver studs. The mod­els com­ple­ment­ed the dar­ing designs with glam­orous make­up and chunky black heels or boots.

Blackhart’s Journey in the Fashion Industry

Black­hart has been work­ing in the fash­ion indus­try for the past two decades, start­ing out shoot­ing for local mag­a­zines in Mia­mi. He has since posi­tioned him­self as a “pio­neer of the body tape art genre,” shar­ing his tech­niques and secrets with the world.

The inno­v­a­tive and risqué run­way pre­sen­ta­tions at New York Fash­ion Week have cer­tain­ly caused a buzz in the fash­ion com­mu­ni­ty, with Black­hart’s body tape designs lead­ing the charge in push­ing the bound­aries of what can be show­cased on the catwalk.
