Innovative Body Tape Designs Debut at NYFW
New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and the event has already seen some daring and unconventional runway looks.
Models have been strutting down the catwalk clad in nothing but strategically placed black body tape, courtesy of designer Drakhan Blackhart, who has dubbed himself the “world’s only body tape expert.”
The Black Tape Project Showcases Minimalist Creations
The spotlight was on The Black Tape Project, powered by House of Paradise producer Mossab Alsaray, during the Saturday show.
Blackhart, a Cuban American raised in Miami, applied the tape directly on the models’ bodies, creating revealing yet innovative ensembles that focused solely on the tape’s placement and design.
Diverse Tape Placements and Embellishments
The designer experimented with various tape placements, sometimes using straight lines and other times opting for curved shapes and angled pieces.
He also added dynamic elements to the looks, such as embellishing the tape with silver studs. The models complemented the daring designs with glamorous makeup and chunky black heels or boots.
Blackhart’s Journey in the Fashion Industry
Blackhart has been working in the fashion industry for the past two decades, starting out shooting for local magazines in Miami. He has since positioned himself as a “pioneer of the body tape art genre,” sharing his techniques and secrets with the world.
The innovative and risqué runway presentations at New York Fashion Week have certainly caused a buzz in the fashion community, with Blackhart’s body tape designs leading the charge in pushing the boundaries of what can be showcased on the catwalk.
