A beloved Santa Monica bar manager is dead after a physical altercation with a customer on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred outside Jameson’s Pub around midnight when 26-year-old Leonard Hector Korpie allegedly punched the manager, who was in his early 50s, during a scuffle. The unidentified manager lost consciousness and later died at the hospital despite CPR and other lifesaving measures.

“He was a respected and esteemed member of our restaurant’s family,” a spokesperson for Jameson’s Pub told the Sacramento Bee. “We are all deeply saddened by his passing.”

Korpie and two others involved in the altercation were arrested. Korpie faces a murder charge and is being held on a $2 million bail. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of violence.
