Shooting in Times Square

A 39-year-old man was shot in the leg in the heart of Times Square, New York City, ear­ly Tues­day morning. 

The gun­fire erupt­ed just after 4 a.m. near the inter­sec­tion of West 42nd Street and 7th Avenue, an area known for its cin­e­mas and oth­er attractions.

Victim Hospitalized

The vic­tim was trans­port­ed to Belle­vue Hos­pi­tal in sta­ble con­di­tion after sus­tain­ing a sin­gle gun­shot wound to his right leg. Police did not have any infor­ma­tion on the vic­tim’s iden­ti­ty or whether he knew the alleged shooters.

Arrests Made

Three teenagers were arrest­ed soon after the shoot­ing inci­dent, accord­ing to law enforce­ment sources. At least one young man was spot­ted being hand­cuffed and tak­en away from the scene by the police.

Investigation Ongoing

Inves­ti­ga­tors have recov­ered eight shell cas­ings from the street, but the cir­cum­stances lead­ing up to the shoot­ing are still unclear. It is unknown if there was any pri­or con­fronta­tion or if the vic­tim and sus­pects were acquainted.
