A Spirit Airlines passenger, Paola Garcia, displayed remarkable detective skills when her luggage vanished at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Garcia’s small pink suitcase, containing Apple devices, never arrived despite assurances from the airline. But Garcia wasn’t giving up.

One of her Apple Watches started pinging from a nearby residence, not the airport. Undeterred, Garcia located the house and found her luggage, though valuables were missing.

The address belonged to Junior Bazile, an employee at Paradies Shops within the airport. Authorities obtained footage of Bazile rummaging through Garcia’s suitcase at work.

Bazile was arrested for grand theft. Garcia suspects a larger operation, while Spirit Airlines reimbursed her (as a courtesy) and maintains no knowledge of employee involvement.

This incident underscores the prevalence of airport theft and the innovative methods passengers are using to track down stolen belongings.
