Former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro’s bid to stay out of prison while appealing his contempt conviction has been rejected by the Supreme Court for the second time in two months.

Navarro was sentenced to four months in prison for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 committee.

Chief Justice John Roberts initially denied Navarro’s request, stating there was no basis to side with him. Navarro then turned to Justice Neil Gorsuch, who referred the matter to the full court, resulting in another rejection.

Navarro’s appeal against his conviction is still pending in the Washington federal appeals court, but it’s likely he will have completed his prison sentence before the case is resolved.

The Supreme Court’s decision emphasizes the importance of adhering to the rule of law and holding individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their political affiliations.
