Devastating Boat Crash Incident

A search is underway for three boaters who went missing after their vessel crashed into a breakwall in the Connecticut River on Monday night. The boat, which was carrying nine people, smashed into the Old Saybrook breakwall at a high speed.

Rescue and Recovery Efforts

Six passengers were rescued from the water and transported to local hospitals for treatment. However, three other passengers who were not wearing life jackets at the time of the crash remain missing. The Coast Guard and local fire department are leading the search and rescue operation.

Ongoing Investigation

The Old Saybrook Fire Department is spearheading the investigation into the cause of the tragic incident. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the missing boaters or provided an update on the condition of the rescued passengers.

Importance of Safety Precautions

The fact that the three missing boaters were not wearing life jackets at the time of the crash underscores the importance of adhering to basic safety protocols when engaging in water-based activities.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the potential dangers that can arise when safety measures are not properly followed.

Collaboration Among Emergency Responders

The search and rescue efforts have involved the coordination of multiple emergency response agencies, including the Coast Guard stations in New London and Cape Cod.

This collaborative approach is crucial in ensuring that all available resources are utilized to locate the missing individuals and provide assistance to the victims.
