A devÂasÂtatÂing fire broke out in the earÂly mornÂing hours of FriÂday at a guestÂhouse in PorÂto AleÂgre, Brazil, leavÂing at least 10 peoÂple dead and 11 othÂers injured. The Rio Grande do Sul state fire departÂment is still searchÂing for missÂing indiÂvidÂuÂals, while forenÂsics teams have begun invesÂtiÂgatÂing the scene.
The guestÂhouse, which operÂatÂed withÂout a propÂer license and lacked a fire-fightÂing plan, caught fire around 2 a.m. local time. FireÂfightÂers arrived promptÂly and manÂaged to extinÂguish the blaze withÂin two hours.
AuthorÂiÂties have yet to deterÂmine the cause of the fire, and invesÂtiÂgaÂtions are ongoÂing. LieuÂtenant Colonel Lucio Junes da SilÂva, who spoke with CNN Brasil, statÂed that the buildÂing has been corÂdoned off, and forenÂsics teams are in charge of the scene.
