A Chicago Sky press conference was interrupted by an outside conversation about an “intimate relationship,” leading to an awkward moment for player Angel Reese and her teammates.

The 22-year-old Reese, who was named to the 2024 WNBA All-Star team, was participating in a post-game press conference along with head coach Teresa Weatherspoon and guard Marina Mabrey.

During the press conference, a reporter’s question about Reese’s WNBA record 13th consecutive double-double was interrupted by a conversation in the background.

A female voice was heard saying “Are we ever going to have an intimate relationship?” to which a male voice responded “I never had any interest in being intimate with anyone.”

Reese, Weatherspoon and Mabrey looked taken aback by the interruption, with Reese covering her mouth in surprise. Mabrey commented “They’re being weird on that,” while another person on the call asked “What’s going on?”

The unexpected events were later revealed to be due to “a live audio feed of a slightly risquĂ© scene from the [TV show] ‘Big Bang Theory’ on WGN on the Zoom feed,” according to The Chicago Tribune.

Despite the awkward interruption, Reese made league history on Sunday, surpassing Candace Parker’s previous WNBA record of 12 consecutive double-doubles.

The Sky’s loss did not diminish Reese’s impressive performance, as she recorded 17 points and 14 rebounds.

The Sky will face the Dream in Chicago on Wednesday as Reese continues her standout rookie season.
