Former NBA player Jontay Porter is set to face criminal charges in connection with a federal case against bettors who cashed in on his alleged gambling scheme, according to a new court filing.

Porter, who was banned for life by the NBA for betting on games, is accused of tipping off gamblers about his plans to intentionally underperform in two NBA games, allowing them to profit off “prop bets” on his statistics.

Federal prosecutors say four defendants — Long Phi Pham, Mahmud Mollah, Timothy McCormack and Ammar Awawdeh — face charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and other offenses related to the scheme. One defendant allegedly made over $1 million from the arrangement.
