FOOTBALL: Chelsea have agreed a €60million transfer fee for RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku

Chelsea have agreed a deal for RB Leipzig strik­er Christo­pher Nkunku.

The Blues have bol­stered their offense this sum­mer with Raheem Ster­ling and Pierre-Emer­ick Aubameyang.

But new own­er Todd Boehly is report­ed­ly look­ing to bring in more play­ers, with Thomas Tuchel replac­ing Gra­ham Pot­ter as manager.

Accord­ing to The Ath­let­ic, Chelsea are close to final­iz­ing the trans­fer of Nkunku after the play­er has signed a pre-con­tract and has acti­vat­ed a €60m release clause.

The play­er is expect­ed to remain at Leipzig until the end of the 2022/23 season.

That’s because his release clause won’t go into effect until the summer.

But Chelsea are pay­ing a big­ger sum up front to secure his ser­vices before being bought by anoth­er club.

He has scored 55 goals and pro­vid­ed 48 assists in 148 appear­ances for Leipzig.

After play­ing for Paris Saint-Ger­main, he joined the Ger­man nation­al team in 2019.

He has also earned eight caps for France after mak­ing his debut in March.

And he is like­ly to be select­ed as a mem­ber of Coach Didi­er Deschamps’ squad for the upcom­ing World Cup in Qatar.

Chelsea are believed to have beat­en sev­er­al Eng­lish clubs to sign Nkunku.

In June, there were rumors of Man­ches­ter Unit­ed and PSG.

When asked about this con­cern, he told Tele­foot: There are clubs that are inter­est­ed in me.

Well, even if it’s flat­ter­ing, I’m hap­py that a club like Leipzig will do every­thing in their pow­er to keep me. ”

Chelsea, on the oth­er hand, have had a rough start, win­ning just three of their first six Pre­mier League games.
