Chelsea have agreed a deal for RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku.
The Blues have bolstered their offense this summer with Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
But new owner Todd Boehly is reportedly looking to bring in more players, with Thomas Tuchel replacing Graham Potter as manager.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea are close to finalizing the transfer of Nkunku after the player has signed a pre-contract and has activated a €60m release clause.
The player is expected to remain at Leipzig until the end of the 2022/23 season.
That’s because his release clause won’t go into effect until the summer.
But Chelsea are paying a bigger sum up front to secure his services before being bought by another club.
He has scored 55 goals and provided 48 assists in 148 appearances for Leipzig.
After playing for Paris Saint-Germain, he joined the German national team in 2019.
He has also earned eight caps for France after making his debut in March.
And he is likely to be selected as a member of Coach Didier Deschamps’ squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
Chelsea are believed to have beaten several English clubs to sign Nkunku.
In June, there were rumors of Manchester United and PSG.
When asked about this concern, he told Telefoot: There are clubs that are interested in me.
Well, even if it’s flattering, I’m happy that a club like Leipzig will do everything in their power to keep me. ”
You have to “reflect” and “decide”. The upcoming World Cup is also a factor to consider. ”
Chelsea, on the other hand, have had a rough start, winning just three of their first six Premier League games.
Things started to turn around on Saturday, however, when new manager Potter beat Crystal Palace 2–1 in his first league game since taking office.
