Cristiano Ronaldo is open to a new job in Italy after being dumped by one Premier League club after another.
SunSport understands Napoli remain ‘interested’ in the legendary striker heading for an exit at Old Trafford after his actions against Spurs last week.
Sources close to the Portuguese star say his advisers have reached out to Premier League clubs Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal.
But United’s rivals see the 37-year-old as too dangerous.
Now, after winning two titles in three years with Juventus, Ronnie is set to return to Italy.
A source told SunSport: “Chelsea were interested in Ronaldo over the summer, but he’s no longer on their radar.
“Arsenal and Newcastle recognize that he has the necessary qualities to reach their goals.
“However, both clubs are concerned about the impact his arrival will have on them.
“Right now the most likely is Italy. Napoli were interested in Ronaldo in the summer and are still interested.
“I believe his arrival will be of great help to them as they aim to stay high in Serie A and progress in the Champions League.
“But it all depends on the club being able to meet his very high wage demands.
Napoli’s current top player is Polish international Piotr Zielinski, who earns €103,000 a week.
Ronaldo was earning £480,000 a week when he returned to United in 2021.
However, he failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, resulting in a 25% pay cut.
Ronaldo is currently earning €411,000 a week at United.
And if it is to force a transfer to Napoli, it will be that he is willing to take a further pay cut.
Meanwhile, United have been linked with signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to replace Ronaldo this summer.
He scored his fifth goal of the season in last night’s 1–0 win over Roma and is valued at more than €114 million.
Sunsports are breaking the news after Ronaldo refused to come off the bench against Spurs and went on a rampage in the tunnel.
Coach Erik Ten Hag confirmed he had walked out and urged him to leave the starting line-up.
Ronaldo will not play in United’s draw with Chelsea on Saturday and will train alone.
His attitude is fully backed by the upper management of the club.
However, this is not the first time Ronaldo has left a match early, as he was substituted at half-time in a pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano.
