FOOTBALL: Thomas Tuchel rejects an offer from Bayer Leverkusen

For­mer Chelsea man­ag­er Thomas Tuchel has report­ed­ly reject­ed an offer from Bay­er Lev­erkusen to become manager.

New own­er Todd Boel­hy wants to hire Gra­ham Pot­ter, and the Ger­man was fired by Blues in September.

Lev­erkusen approached Tuchel, but he reject­ed the offer.

Cur­rent man­ag­er Ger­ard Theoane is still hang­ing on, but the pres­sure is on as the team is at the bot­tom of the league, in sec­ond place.

Accord­ing to Sport1, they absolute­ly must win their next two games, in the Cham­pi­ons League against Por­to and in the Bun­desli­ga against Schalke.

Seoane has received pub­lic sup­port from gen­er­al man­ag­er Fer­nan­do Caro, but he stressed that the club is not caught off guard for a coach­ing change.

After fin­ish­ing third in the Bun­desli­ga last sea­son, this sea­son has been dis­ap­point­ing with only five points from eight games.

It is unclear whether the club’s pre­car­i­ous posi­tion or Tuchel’s desire to take a break from coach­ing is the rea­son behind reports that Lev­erkusen is “not interested.”

Tuchel, 49, was a man of great stature, win­ning the Cham­pi­ons League, Super Cup and Club World Cup with Chelsea before being sacked.

Sun­Sport exclu­sive­ly revealed that he was bru­tal­ly fired by Boehly in a short meet­ing after ask­ing for his time.

The man­ag­er spent about 315 mil­lion euros on sum­mer acqui­si­tions, but had very few games to bring in new talent.

But his pedi­gree is still at a high lev­el when he left for Chelsea after win­ning two league titles and reach­ing the Cham­pi­ons League final with Paris Saint-Germain.

Tuchel has not been in charge in his native coun­try for two sea­sons at Borus­sia Dort­mundafter his first job at Mainz.

Julian Nagels­mann is under pres­sure at Bay­ern Munich and is also the sub­ject of rumors of candidacy.
