Former USC football player Jake Olson, who is blind, mourns the loss of his loyal guide dog, Quebec. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Olson paid tribute to their incredible 13-year journey together.
Olson, who lost his sight to cancer, described Quebec as his “best friend” and constant companion. Quebec became Olson’s eyes, navigating him through high school, college, and even a memorable encounter with a U.S. president.
Their bond was further strengthened by the fact that Quebec was born on the very day Olson lost his vision. Olson saw this as a divine sign, believing Quebec was “made for him.”
Their story garnered national attention, with ESPN featuring Olson’s inspiring journey and the irreplaceable role Quebec played in his life. Olson even founded a charity, Out of Sight Faith, to equip blind students with assistive technology.
Quebec’s passing leaves a void in Olson’s life. He feels as if a part of him is gone. However, Olson finds solace in the countless memories they shared and the profound impact Quebec had on his life. Quebec’s spirit and the unwavering loyalty he displayed will forever be cherished.
