Retired NASCAR driver Tighe Scott (75) and his son Jarret Scott (48) were arrested alongside two other Pennsylvania men for their alleged roles in the January 6th, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. All four face felony charges related to assaulting police during the Capitol riots.
According to court documents, the Scotts and the Slatters, Scott Slater Sr. (56) and Scott Alex Slater Jr. (26), breached restricted Capitol grounds and confronted officers trying to control the crowd.
The complaint alleges they pushed against police shields, with Jarret Scott wielding a golf club and Slater Jr. throwing objects at officers.
Tighe Scott, a former NASCAR Cup Series driver from the 1970s and 1980s, is charged with two felonies: obstructing law enforcement during a civil disorder and assaulting officers. The Slatters also face felony and misdemeanor charges.
A tipster recognized Tighe Scott from his racing days after authorities released photos and videos from the riot. These arrests are part of the ongoing investigation into the January 6th Capitol attack.
