NBA veteran Drew Gordon died in a car accident on May 31st in Portland, Oregon at the age of 33, according to his agent Calvin Andrews.
Gordon played for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014–15 NBA season, appearing in 9 games. He was drafted by the NBA Development League’s Reno Bighorns in 2010.
The San Jose, California native attended UCLA and New Mexico during his college basketball career. He found success playing internationally in numerous leagues after his time in the NBA.
Gordon spent time in Serbia, Italy, Turkey, France, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and Russia over the course of his professional basketball journey. He was a native of the Bay Area and a McDonald’s All-American in high school.
Gordon is survived by his wife Angela and their three children. He was the older brother of Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon.
News of Gordon’s unexpected passing at a young age is saddening for the basketball community. His prolific career playing professional basketball around the world came to a tragic end. Gordon will be remembered for his hard work and dedication to the game.
