NBA vet­er­an Drew Gor­don died in a car acci­dent on May 31st in Port­land, Ore­gon at the age of 33, accord­ing to his agent Calvin Andrews.

Gor­don played for the Philadel­phia 76ers dur­ing the 2014–15 NBA sea­son, appear­ing in 9 games. He was draft­ed by the NBA Devel­op­ment League’s Reno Bighorns in 2010.

The San Jose, Cal­i­for­nia native attend­ed UCLA and New Mex­i­co dur­ing his col­lege bas­ket­ball career. He found suc­cess play­ing inter­na­tion­al­ly in numer­ous leagues after his time in the NBA.

Gor­don spent time in Ser­bia, Italy, Turkey, France, Lithua­nia, Poland, Ukraine and Rus­sia over the course of his pro­fes­sion­al bas­ket­ball jour­ney. He was a native of the Bay Area and a McDon­ald’s All-Amer­i­can in high school.

Gor­don is sur­vived by his wife Angela and their three chil­dren. He was the old­er broth­er of Den­ver Nuggets for­ward Aaron Gordon.

News of Gor­don’s unex­pect­ed pass­ing at a young age is sad­den­ing for the bas­ket­ball com­mu­ni­ty. His pro­lif­ic career play­ing pro­fes­sion­al bas­ket­ball around the world came to a trag­ic end. Gor­don will be remem­bered for his hard work and ded­i­ca­tion to the game.
