Box­ing leg­end Man­ny Pac­quiao’s return to the ring has been offi­cial­ly con­firmed, with the 45-year-old Fil­ipino set to par­tic­i­pate in an exhi­bi­tion bout against Chi­hi­ro Suzu­ki on July 28 in Saita­ma, Japan.

This warm-up fight is part of Pac­quiao’s plans to poten­tial­ly chal­lenge for the WBC wel­ter­weight title against Mario Barrios.

Pac­quiao, who last fought pro­fes­sion­al­ly in 2021, has expressed his desire to make a come­back and add one more world title to his illus­tri­ous career. 

The exhi­bi­tion bout against Suzu­ki will be held over three three-minute rounds, allow­ing Pac­quiao to shake off the ring rust ahead of a poten­tial show­down with the 29-year-old Barrios.

Bar­rios, who has suf­fered just two loss­es in his 31-fight career, won the inter­im WBC wel­ter­weight title in Sep­tem­ber 2023 by defeat­ing Yor­de­nis Ugas. 

Pac­quiao, who last made his­to­ry at the age of 40 by beat­ing Kei­th Thur­man, believes he has what it takes to win one more world title and cement his lega­cy as one of the great­est box­ers of all time.

The announce­ment of Pac­quiao’s return has gen­er­at­ed sig­nif­i­cant inter­est among box­ing fans, who are eager to see the leg­end poten­tial­ly make a come­back and chal­lenge for anoth­er world title. 

The exhi­bi­tion bout against Suzu­ki will serve as a cru­cial first step in Pac­quiao’s quest to add one more remark­able chap­ter to his sto­ried career.
