Steph Curry Dominates Olympics, Sparks French McDonald’s Response

NBA super­star Steph Cur­ry’s out­stand­ing per­for­mance at the 2024 Paris Olympics has prompt­ed an unex­pect­ed reac­tion from McDon­ald’s France. 

The com­pa­ny has hint­ed at the pos­si­bil­i­ty of remov­ing its clas­sic cur­ry sauce from the menu, cit­ing “obvi­ous rea­sons” after Cur­ry’s hero­ics led the Unit­ed States to the gold medal against France.

McDonald’s France Contemplates Curry Sauce Removal

Cur­ry’s 24-point effort, includ­ing four clutch 3‑pointers in the final three min­utes, was the deci­sive fac­tor in the U.S. team’s vic­to­ry over France in the gold medal game.

The NBA super­star’s hero­ics, which broke the hearts of French fans, have now caught the atten­tion of the fast-food giant.

In a social media post, McDon­ald’s France stat­ed that it was “con­sid­er­ing remov­ing this sauce” for a min­i­mum of four years, imply­ing that Cur­ry’s dom­i­nant per­for­mance was the rea­son behind the poten­tial menu change.

The Olympic tri­umph marked the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive sum­mer games in which the U.S. and France faced off in the gold medal game.

U.S. head coach Steve Kerr praised Cur­ry’s per­for­mance, stat­ing that the pres­sure of the occa­sion nev­er fazed the NBA star.

“I’ve seen that from Steph a few times, but it nev­er gets old,” Kerr said. “It’s a glob­al game with a lot of great play­ers, but we still feel we have the great­est players.

They were all so unselfish through­out this whole thing, through all the noise, all the pressure.”

The Olympic cel­e­bra­tion, how­ev­er, may have been inter­rupt­ed by a report­ed inci­dent involv­ing Cur­ry’s wife, Ayesha, and moth­er, Sonya, who were alleged­ly involved in a con­fronta­tion with French police after the gold medal game.
