Phil Foden Withdraws from England Squad Due to Appendicitis Surgery

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden will not be joining the England squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Ukraine after undergoing surgery for acute appendicitis, according to an announcement by the Premier League club on Sunday.

Foden, who is 22 years old, underwent surgery after playing 12 minutes in England’s 2–1 victory over Italy earlier this week. It is unclear at this stage how long he will remain unavailable, and he will not be fit for City’s home game against Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend.

City said in a statement that Foden’s availability for future games remains uncertain. The Premier League runners-up will host Liverpool on Saturday, while England will play Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday.

This is a setback for both City and England, as Foden has been in fine form for his club this season and was expected to play a key role in England’s upcoming fixtures. However, his health and recovery are the top priority, and everyone will be hoping for a swift and successful recovery for Foden.
