Biles Wins Third Gold Medal in Paris
Simone Biles, the most decorated American gymnast, has hit out at reporters covering the 2024 Paris Olympics for their line of questioning after athletes win medals.
Biles, who captured her third gold medal at the Games in the vault finals, expressed frustration with reporters asking athletes about their future plans immediately after their victories.
Biles Wants Athletes to ‘Soak Up the Moment’
In a series of social media posts, Biles wrote: “You guys really gotta stop asking athletes what’s next after they win a medal at the Olympics.” She added: “Let us soak up the moment we’ve worked our whole lives for.”
When a fan asked Biles what was next for her after winning another gold, she replied: “Babysitting the medal.”
Biles’ victory in the vault final on Saturday gave her the seventh gold medal of her illustrious Olympic career.
She is now only the second woman to win two vault crowns, joining Vera Casalavska of Czechoslovakia.
The 27-year-old gymnast has now won three gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, having already secured victories in the team finals and the individual all-around competition.
