LeBron James’ team has won its first five games since 2018, when the NBA began captaining top-tier players in each conference and picking teams with playstyles.
Team Giannis gave Team LeBron their best on Sunday as they left Salt Lake City with a 184–175 victory.
Team Giannis are 1–2 against Team LeBron. “I’m glad we got the win, and I got one against LeBron,” Antetokounmpo said.
Gian’s team holds a 158–141 lead after three quarters, according to the NBA, and the target score is “the lead team’s total score after the first three quarters plus 24,” resulting in a 182.
Using the goal, Portland’s Damian Lillard closed out the game with a 3‑point basket.
Giannis’ team, which scored 29 points, including Boston’s Jason Tatum (10), Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell (8) and Lillard (8), was a three-pointer.
Tatum scored an All-Star record 55 points, including 27 in the third quarter, to take home the award. Tatum scored 22-of-31 from the field and 10-of-18 from 3‑point range. He also recorded 10 rebounds, 6 assists, blocks and steals.
This is the first time that Tatum, a huge fan of Kobe Bryant, has won the award.
“It’s very special to me,” Tatum said. “My first All-Star Game was in Chicago 2020 when I renamed MVP to him. I remember telling myself that day he had to get one before it was over. There is.”
“It’s an incredible day to wear my signature shoes, break records, and take home this award from someone I admired.”
