WNBA rookie Angel Reese is making waves on and off the court. After the Chicago Sky’s win against the New York Liberty, Reese took to social media, sparking discussion about player promotion and league-wide parity in the WNBA.

Her cryptic X (formerly Twitter) post read: “And that’s on getting a WIN in a packed arena not just cause of one player on our charter flight. #SKYTOWN.” This message is seen as a subtle jab at the media focus on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, alongside the uneven distribution of charter flights across the WNBA.

Drafted 7th overall in 2024, Reese has been vocal about her desire for equal resources and media coverage for all teams and players. “It’s not a one-woman show,” she emphasized in a post-game interview.

“The narrative seems to be that just one person is changing the game. It’s a team effort – me, Kamilla [Cardoso], Cameron [Brink], Rickea [Jackson] – there’s so much talent, and it’s about time our collective impact is recognized.”

Reese’s comments add fuel to the ongoing debate about the WNBA’s player promotion strategies. While Caitlin Clark’s impressive rookie season has undeniably boosted interest in the league, Reese advocates for ensuring other deserving players and teams get their share of the spotlight.

As the WNBA progresses, the dynamic between rising stars like Reese and Clark promises to be a captivating storyline. Both players strive to leave their mark on the league and the sport of women’s basketball.
