Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg fired back at Elon Musk’s recent challenge to a “cage match” between the two tech billionaires.
Zuckerberg took to his live streaming app Threads to respond directly to Musk, stating that he is ready to fight now and that he had even suggested August 26 as a date when Musk first issued the challenge.
Zuckerberg accused Musk of stalling and suggested that Threads would generate more revenue for charity from streaming the fight compared to Musk’s troubled Twitter and X.com platforms. While Musk has hinted that he needs more time to train, Zuckerberg implied that his superior stamina would give him an advantage in a quick bout.
The feud began when Musk tweeted a meme jokingly suggesting a cage match between the two CEOs. Musk responded that Zuckerberg “probably easier to bribe with money” rather than physical altercation. However, Musk then said he was serious about the challenge and began sharing photos of his weight training regimen.
Though initially dismissed as jokes, both CEOs now seem committed to making the bout happen. Reports indicate UFC and Italian officials briefly discussed holding the fight at the Colosseum in Rome, but plans have since stalled.
Zuckerberg’s blunt response suggests he is ready whenever Musk is, calling his bluff and upping the stakes by suggesting his livestreaming app would generate more money for charity. It remains to be seen if Musk will accept Zuckerberg’s gauntlet and set an official date for the highly anticipated tech CEO cage match.
