Kim KarÂdashiÂan has agreed to pay a $1.26 milÂlion fine for proÂmotÂing EthereumÂMax on his own InstaÂgram page.
The U.S. SecuÂriÂties and Exchange ComÂmisÂsion, withÂout disÂclosÂing that the realÂiÂty TV star was paid $250,000 for proÂmotÂing crypÂtocurÂrenÂcies, said he received the payout.
He also agreed that he would not proÂmote crypÂtocurÂrenÂcy secuÂriÂties for three years.
âMs KarÂdashiÂan is delightÂed to have resolved this matÂter with the SEC,â her lawyer told BBC News.
âFrom the beginÂning, KarÂdashiÂan has coopÂerÂatÂed fulÂly with the SEC and remains willÂing to do whatÂevÂer it takes to assist the SEC in this matÂter,â the attorÂney said.
âIâd like to put this issue in the past to avoid a proÂtractÂed disÂpute,â she apparÂentÂly thought.
âThe setÂtleÂment with the SEC has allowed her to do just that and move a lot of her busiÂness forward.
KarÂdashiÂan, boxÂer Floyd MayÂweathÂer Jr., basÂketÂball playÂer Paul Pierce and the creÂators of Ethereum Max were sued by investors in January.
The lawÂsuit alleges that they coopÂerÂatÂed to âdecepÂtiveÂly adverÂtise and sellâ crypÂtocurÂrenÂcies in a âpump-and-dumpâ manÂner aimed at inflatÂing prices before sellÂing them to investors. .
Ethereum Max denied the alleÂgaÂtions at the time.
EthereumÂMax, conÂtrary to its name, has no legal or comÂmerÂcial affilÂiÂaÂtion with the Ethereum cryptocurrency.
