TECH: Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra might come with less memory than last year’s model.

While Sam­sung was expect­ed to announce its next Galaxy S flag­ships in Feb­ru­ary, a new leak sug­gests the com­pa­ny may have planned a price change for its high-end line of phones. Accord­ing to a tweet spot­ted by Android Police from Roland Quandt of Win­Fu­ture, Euro­pean prices for the Galaxy S22 series will start at €849, with the base Galaxy S22 Plus and Ultra mod­els set to cost €1049 and €1249 respectively.

In effect, this means that in 2022, Sam­sung’s Galaxy S line will cost as much as it did in 2021. Addi­tion­al­ly, Quandt’s tweet sug­gests that the com­pa­ny will con­tin­ue its prac­tice of charg­ing a €50 pre­mi­um for increased stor­age. on Stan­dard and Plus models.

What could change is that Sam­sung could tweak the Ultra vari­ant of the base mod­el to offer less val­ue than its pre­de­ces­sor. In Europe at least, the €1,249 Galaxy S22 Ultra will come with 8GB of RAM, Quandt says, and will cost the same as the entry-lev­el Galaxy S21 Ultra, which has 12GB of RAM.

Euro­pean con­sumers will have to pay a €100 pre­mi­um to get the S22 Ultra with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of inter­nal stor­age. It’s unclear if Sam­sung will imple­ment the same pric­ing strat­e­gy in the US.

As Android Police points out, a sep­a­rate leak ear­li­er this month sug­gest­ed the com­pa­ny might charge an addi­tion­al $100 in the US for each mod­el in the Galaxy S22 line­up. As always, we’ll have to wait for the com­pa­ny to share offi­cial pric­ing infor­ma­tion before we know how much it will cost to own the lat­est Galaxy S phones.
