U.S. : A man dies in a brawl at kid’s basketball game

A man is killed in a brawl dur­ing a boys’ school bas­ket­ball game.

The match, held in Ver­mont, USA, was between 11- to 13-year-old junior high school sopho­mores and high school sophomores.

Police inter­vened in the brawl, and one of the men, Rus­sell Giroud, 60, received med­ical atten­tion. Police said he was tak­en to hos­pi­tal by ambu­lance, but was pro­nounced dead short­ly after arrival.

On Tues­day at 7pm, Alburgh Junior High School and St.Albans Junior High School boys played bas­ket­ball at the Alburgh Com­mu­ni­ty Edu­ca­tion Centre.

Video footage from the scene appears to show sev­er­al peo­ple on the bas­ket­ball court being tack­led, pushed, and punched.

15–20 adult men and women packed the court and inter­rupt­ed the game.

State police rushed to the scene after receiv­ing a report of a fight between spectators.

How­ev­er, the brawl end­ed before police arrived on the scene and many of the par­tic­i­pants left.

Police are cur­rent­ly work­ing with the Grand Isle Attor­ney’s Office to inves­ti­gate the man’s cause of death fol­low­ing the incident.
