
A man is killed in a brawl during a boys’ school basketball game.
The match, held in Vermont, USA, was between 11- to 13-year-old junior high school sophomores and high school sophomores.
Police intervened in the brawl, and one of the men, Russell Giroud, 60, received medical attention. Police said he was taken to hospital by ambulance, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
On Tuesday at 7pm, Alburgh Junior High School and St.Albans Junior High School boys played basketball at the Alburgh Community Education Centre.
Video footage from the scene appears to show several people on the basketball court being tackled, pushed, and punched.
15–20 adult men and women packed the court and interrupted the game.
State police rushed to the scene after receiving a report of a fight between spectators.
However, the brawl ended before police arrived on the scene and many of the participants left.
Police are currently working with the Grand Isle Attorney’s Office to investigate the man’s cause of death following the incident.
