The 74-year-old former coachbuilder was in a Yukon SUV when he crashed a red Prius around 5 p.m. PT in Brentwood, Calif., TMZ first reported.
Arnold’s SUV ended up on top of the Prius and then rolled into a Porsche Cayenne, according to reports.
Los Angeles police say a multi-vehicle accident occurred Friday afternoon in Brentwood and confirmed one person was slightly injured, according to KABC-TV.
Four cars were involved in the crash, which happened on Sunset Boulevard and Allenford Avenue around 4:15 p.m., police said.
The female driver of the Prius was injured and “bleeding profusely from her head,” TMZ reported.
However, ABC7 learned that the injured person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Prius was attempting to make a U‑turn on Sunset Boulevard when the collision occurred, according to the report.
An eyewitness said the accident, which allegedly happened about a mile from Arnold’s house, “looked like a stunt in a movie”.
Arnold, who was California’s 38th governor from 2003 to 2011, was seen in photos obtained by TMZ speaking to those at the scene.
TMZ learned that Arnold was doing well after the accident and was worried about the injured driver.
A source told the outlet that Arnold was trying to personally check on the injured woman.
American actor and fitness personality Jake Steinfeld appeared to be at the scene at the time of the crash.
A photo shared by TMZ showed Steinfeld standing next to Arnold near the wrecked cars, the two of whom are said to be “close friends.”
It is not yet known whether Arnold or someone else was driving the SUV.
Police said the crash does not appear to involve any form of impaired driving and no arrests have been made, according to KABC.
The incident comes more than a decade after Arnold was sent to hospital to receive 15 stitches to his lip after a motorcycle accident.
In 2006, the Terminator was riding his Harley-Davidson when he was involved in a minor accident, SFGATE reported.
Arnold was riding his motorcycle with his 12-year-old child in a sidecar, according to LAPD officer Jason Lee.
Lee said Arnold was unable to stop his motorcycle in time when a vehicle backed into a driveway.
Arnold and his son suffered only cuts and bruises and the driver of the other vehicle was uninjured, Lee said.
Lee called the crash a “minor traffic collision” and a “relatively low speed collision.”
