CINEMA: Bruce Lee drank too much water and died, according to doctors

Kung Fu leg­end Bruce Lee, near­ly 50 years after his death, may have died from drink­ing too much water, doc­tors say.

The great­est Hol­ly­wood mar­tial arts star died in the sum­mer of 1973, aged 32, while in Hong Kong.

An autop­sy at the time showed that Bruce died of a swollen brain, and doc­tors blamed him for tak­ing painkillers.

His untime­ly death sparked rumors that he had been killed by a Chi­nese gang, poi­soned by his jeal­ous lover, or a vic­tim of a curse. There is also a the­o­ry that he died of heat stroke.

Researchers reviewed the evi­dence to deter­mine that Bruce prob­a­bly died of hyponatremia.

In oth­er words, the inabil­i­ty of the kid­neys to expel excess water killed Bruce Lee, wrote a team of experts in the Jour­nal of Clin­i­cal Kidneys.

Hypona­trem­ia means abnor­mal­ly low lev­els of sodi­um in the blood, which is nec­es­sary for flu­id balance.

An imbal­ance caus­es the cells of the body, includ­ing those in the brain, to swell.

In the study, Bruce had mul­ti­ple risk fac­tors for hypona­trem­ia, includ­ing drink­ing lots of flu­ids, con­sum­ing cannabis that increased his thirst, and using pre­scrip­tion drugs and alco­hol. It is stat­ed that there were oth­er fac­tors that reduced
