The Brazilian Federation and Real Madrid deny reports that Carlo Ancelotti has been given the green light to become Brazil coach

The Brazil­ian Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion has denied a report by ESPN Brazil that Real Madrid man­ag­er Car­lo Ancelot­ti has been appoint­ed as the new coach of the Brazil­ian men’s nation­al team.

Brazil were look­ing to replace Tite, who left after Decem­ber’s Qatar World Cup quar­ter-final defeat to Croatia.

An expe­ri­enced Real Madrid coach from 2021, Ancelot­ti has man­aged clubs such as Juven­tus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Ger­main and Bay­ern Munich in his 28-year career.

Accord­ing to ESPN Brazil jour­nal­ist Bruno Vic­ari, the Ital­ian has giv­en the go-ahead to coach Brazil in his first inter­na­tion­al match this summer.

Although no for­mal agree­ment has been reached, Ancelot­ti is said to have respond­ed pos­i­tive­ly to the CBF’s interest.

“The Brazil­ian Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion (CBF) affirms that the news report­ed on Fri­day that Real Madrid coach Car­lo Ancelot­ti (Italy) has been appoint­ed as the new coach of the Brazil­ian nation­al team is ground­less,” said the CBF.

“Pres­i­dent Ednar­do Rodriguez endors­es his state­ment after the draw of the Copa del Rey on Wednes­day, in which he said: “The mat­ter will be dealt with trans­par­ent­ly and the select­ed coach will be announced at the appro­pri­ate time. 

Ancelot­ti coached Madrid in the Cham­pi­ons League and La Liga last sea­son and is cur­rent­ly sec­ond in La Liga, eight points behind lead­ers Barcelona, who will face Al Hilal in the Club World Cup final on Saturday.

Mul­ti­ple sources have told that Ancelot­ti is the fron­trun­ner to replace Tite.

How­ev­er, sources close to the man­ag­er insist that he is hap­py with Madrid, who have a con­tract until 2024.

A Real Madrid source told ESPN they were not aware of any plans for the man­ag­er to leave this summer.

With his eyes on the Club World Cup final, Ancelot­ti said the vic­to­ry could be the cat­a­lyst for the rest of the sea­son for Real Madrid.
