CINEMA: Mitchell Ryan the star of Lethal Weapon and Dark Shadows dies of heart failure at 88.

“My sweet and beloved friend Mitch passed away ear­ly this morn­ing,” Kathryn Scott said in a trib­ute post on Facebook.

“He was a great gift in my life. I cher­ish my warm mem­o­ries of his beau­ti­ful soul. My heart is broken.”

Through­out his impres­sive career, the actor starred along­side Clint East­wood, Mel Gib­son and Dan­ny Glover.

Ryan has played a wide range of roles over the years, includ­ing a cult leader and even a por­tray­al of Hugh Hefner.

Ryan has appeared on numer­ous tele­vi­sion shows, includ­ing All My Chil­dren, Gold­en Girls and Mur­der, She Wrote.

He pub­lished a mem­oir in 2021 titled Fall of a Spar­row that details his strug­gles with alcoholism.

“I am blessed. I’m blessed with 30 years of drunk­en­ness, I’ve man­aged to live the life of an actor to envy,” Ryan said in the book’s preface.

“And I lived a lot of real life while I was at it.

Sober for the next 30 years, I’m told I came out a good and use­ful human being.”

Ryan’s step­daugh­ter, Denise Freed, con­firmed that he died of con­ges­tive heart fail­ure at his Los Ange­les home, accord­ing to The Hol­ly­wood Reporter.

In addi­tion to his daugh­ter-in-law, his sur­vivors include his wife, Bar­bara; and five grandchildren.
